This is a street scene I photographed when I was in Jerusalem in 2012. The Jewish new year (Rosh Hashanah) is in the beginning of September this year, starting at sunset on Wednesday, September 4th. The Jewish calendar is a lunar calendar, while our usual (Gregorian) calendar is a solar one. That is why the dates vary from year to year on Jewish holidays.
